Disneyland

January 16, 2007

The happiest place on earth was visited yesterday by myself, Nicole, and Steve.  We had a super time!  Nicole was able to get us in for free, for which both Steve and myself are ever grateful.  We made sure to hit each land…Haunted Mansion was closed since they’re changing it back, but everything else was open.  We rode Space Mountain first, and it broke while we were on it!!  They had to turn on all the lights, and it must’ve been a small problem because after a few minutes, they sent us through again.  It was pretty cool with the RHCP playing, but they also changed the space theme, so it’s more like club lighting.  Really weird…and it’s not as much fun when you can see the track.  I miss the old way.  Anyhow, at California Adventure, we rode California Screamin, again with RHCP playing, and it really enhanced that ride.  Super fun…  All in all, a great time.  NO LINES, either.  I guess because it was a weekday, it was cold, and the Golden Globes were on.  TGIFridays was really delicious the other night, btw.  Mmmm… they ran out of Oreo cake so I got vanilla bean cheesecake instead.  YUMMERS!

Well, I didn’t get enough sleep last night, so I’m going to take a nap.  Bell choir later…maybe with Steve.

I absolutely love being able to sit on the floor with a cat on my lap and write an entry. For those who don’t know, I recently purchased my very first notebook computer…a Sony Vaio that’s white and very cute (kinda like Steve). Jess thankfully helped me set this site up since having a notebook computer inspired me to finally start a blog.

So tonight I’m supposedly going to TGI Fridays with Marina and Ozzie to get this new deal they have – an appetizer, entree, and dessert for $12. Sounds pretty good!! Plus, Barracuda says they have a couple light options too, so I’m super excited. Speaking of, for my lunch break, Barracuda and I went to Subway… yay for light delicious lunch options! I learned how to spell “delicious” today by listening to Fergie’s new song. =)~ Plans for tomorrow are pending…I’m supposed to hit Disneyland with Nicole, Steve, and Ashley. Hopefully everything will work out and we can have a super fun day with Mickey!! Wow, this entry is happy. For my staff rec, I chose Feeling Happy, a kids book put out by PBS. So cute AND educational.

Well, my foot’s falling asleep. More later!

I got it bad
you don’t know how bad I got it.
You got it easy
you don’t know when you’ve got it good.
It’s getting harder
just keeping life and soul together

I’m sick of fighting even though I know I should.
The cold is biting through each and ev’ry nerve and fibre

My broken spirit is frozen to the core.
I don’t want to be here no more.

Wouldn’t it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one day
And wouldn’t it be good if we could wish ourselves away.
Wouldn’t it be good to be on your side

The grass in always greener over there.
Wouldn’t it be good if we could live without a care.

You must be joking
you don’t know a thing about it.
You’ve got no problems
I’d stay right there if I were you.
I got it harder
you couldn’t dream how hard I got it

Stay out of my shoes if you know what’s good for you.
The heat is stifling
burning me up from the inside.
The sweat is coming through each and ev’ry pore.
I don’t want to be here no more. I don’t want to be here no more.
I don’t want to be here no more.
Wouldn’t it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one day. . . .
I got it bad. you don’t know how bad I got it. .. .

Wouldn’t it be Good

Food shortage

January 10, 2007

We’re out of food!  Luckily, all I really need for a good snack is a flour tortilla, which we have.  I guess I could dig into the cheese I brought back from WI for my folks, but what kind of weight management would that be?  By the way, I’m trying to cut back and get back into shape.  I know, I know, popular resolution.  Well, I used to be smaller and I wanna get back down to my fighting weight!

It was sad saying goodbye to Jess last night.  At least we got in a few rounds of Mario Party 7 and quite a few steamed dumplings.  I feel bad I had to work so much… whenever we did hang out I was too tired to really do anything… we didn’t even get boba.  Sad times.  I’ll miss that girl.

I’m looking forward to Friday – CLOCKWORK ORANGE night!  If anyone is interested (I’m acting like there are people actually reading this, how cute) just meet us there at around 10:30.  Make sure to sign up for their e-mail discounts at www.evilclubempire.com

Thoughts

January 9, 2007

It seems as though a long, whimsical entry is necessary to start one of these, but perhaps those will come later.  I’ve gone so long without charting my feelings, happening, and so on, that I must begin…. NOW.

I took my EL students out today, as I do every Tuesday and Thursday morning.  Those 8 third graders can cause quite a commotion, but not today.  Today I took a stand (in a polite, controlled way).  The week before break, the noise level had gotten a bit out of hand, and in a moment of clarity, I sent them all back to class.  I knew they’d remember, and today’s session was all about discipline.  I reminded them that they each have a teacher in their classroom who is responsible for them and their actions.  I went on to say that when they are out in the hallway with me at the table, I become their teacher.  I have the ability to assign extra work, bench a child at recess, send him/her back to class, etc. for bad behavior.  They seemed a little confused at first but soon came to a silent understanding.  I next had them write a list of five important rules for behavior in the hallway, and we worked together to sticker the most important ones, and then each kid read their list for the others.  I plan on making a posterboard with our top picks, and keeping it in plain view as a reminder of the rules THEY chose.  Ha!  Take that!  I’m becoming a better teacher!

It’s also great not having to work every day at B&N.  I’m much more relaxed at my morning job if I know I don’t have to slave away at a tedious 9-hour shift that night.  I feel like I’m working towards something finally.  Phew!  I plan on seriously cutting my hours (or quitting) when I start at Long Beach for my credential…which is in a few short weeks.  I can’t see myself working two jobs AND going to grad school.  I’d be found slumped over the plush display or sleeping on the picture book wall.  I can see it now…

Well, today is a busy one.  Steve and I are supposed to hang out… possibly go to the public libary in Downtown LA… and tonight is Jess’s last night in LA so we’re supposed to have dumplings and wine.  Oh yeah, and bell choir.  Busy day!

Yowza!
